ALL OUT WAR?
As triggered by the Mamasapano incident, people belonging to
several groups call for President Noynoy Aquino to launch an all-out war
against the MILF and BIFF but is an all-out war the best thing to do for this moment?
I think it’s not.
If the government will launch an all-out war against the
MILF and BIFF:
1.
The greater casualties will not belong to both
the government and the rebels but to the civilians who will be displaced during
military encounters.
2.
Philippine economy will be down.
3.
Many lives will be sacrificed.
4.
The decades-long Government and MILF peace
process will go into waste.
5.
There is no certainty that insurgency in our
country will end.
6.
If we seek help from allied countries like Japan
and America there is also a possibility that international terrorist groups
will also help the rebels. Are we prepared that our Philippine soil will become
a battlefield?
7.
The greater slice of the annual budget of the
government will go to military instead of education and health.
8.
Our country will become poorer and poorer.
9.
There will be greater avenues for corruption
from the military supplies.
10.
Instead of peace we will harvest chaos.
I am not saying that we will forget the Massacre, we will
never forget the incident that killed 44 SAF Commandos however we will pursue
justice and ensure that the perpetrators will pay in the strongest possible
sense of the law but not in launching an all-out war, instead the government should
launch an all-out justice for the 44 lives that was banished during the
encounter. The government should let those responsible for the sad incident be
made accountable even how high or low are there positions in the society and utilize
other avenues so that justice will be serve. Lastly, we should learn from that
incident and prevent it from happening again.
